Common Beer Off-Flavor Tasting

Acetaldehyde made a little more sense—if you can readily relate latex paint to green apples.

1: On the mountain cheersing camp // 2: At camp cheersing the line we skied. I love getting different perspectives. 🍻🏂🎿
Imperial (Baltic-style) Porter aged in bourbon barrels (16 months, 9 casks blended) with coconut, almond, vanilla bean, and chilies paired with peanut butter Thai chili curry ... I guess we go big for #nationalbeerday
Haircut and a pilsner. It must be spring 🌻
Out here on the second day of spring after a long weekend of putting primer on the walls (la primer-vera, if you will), waiting for my hops to start growing, bribing Lola with fetch to get a good photo, and I realize—this delicious hazy is 4.8%! I’m sad for a moment because it’s a limited release from @deschutesbrewery then I’m okay because life is beautiful and it’s almost chipmunk season—the dogs’ favorite 😈☠️
Kvasskyou a question? How much do you enjoy talking beer with fellow beer lovers? It’s what I do when I’m feelin’ social (once in a new moon). This afternoon I got to hang with @donnercreek brewer/owner Greg, share my imperial stout, try a @greatnotion pie beer, taste his own lineup of creative ales. My favorite was this: Kali Kvass at 2% ... COUNT IT: TWO. [Edit: This is a variation of Estonian Kali/Kvass made with sourdough instead of rye bread]. Creamy, mouth-coating, slightly tart and opaque, prime for adding tropical fruit or even tea and vanilla. This is what I love about beer. Trying new things and flavors, meeting good people. Oh, and GOURMET GRILLED CHEESE 😁
When a brewer asks you to take notes, you take notes.
