It’s been a judgey few weeks… 😏 I had my first official beer judging experience at @cacraftbrewerscup and then took the Beer Judge Certification Program tasting exam last weekend! Phew! And I can’t simply *drink* beer just yet—now I’m prepping for the @cicerone tasting exam next month (after trying to take it for 2.5 years!).

When you have to open the kriek and framboise for Cicerone & BJCP studying, you think up a thing to celebrate: Happy 50th year, a-frame house! My house was one of the first 10 built in its neighborhood back in 1971. It’s a time warp when you walk in and I freaking love it 🧡 Veneer faux-wood paneling, yellow and blue countertops, exposed pine ceilings. Part of me wishes I could’ve seen the original burnt orange shag carpet in action, but at least some of it still shows up in squirrel nests nearby 😅

When the clutchest local beer buyer invites you to an exclusive bottle share of an entire PLUMP of whales (plump is the word, look it up), you wash your exhausted, introverted face and GO. All of these were buried underground for 3 years (most aged for years before that). It was an amazing event of smooth imperial stouts, horsey saisons, port-like barleywines, and grossly oxidized triple IPAs 😅 And tomorrow I judge my first competition at the @cacraftbrewers cup! Beer is cool. Cellar beer is cooler 🤓
