When a brewer asks you to take notes, you take notes.
Orange juice, rose petal, light cream & a mild, west coast zing—I have a feeling the name of this 6.5% Hazy IPA DDH with Rakau & Idaho 7 hops from @roninfermentationproject has something to do with excessive snow loads... Completely opaque like the emotions of my friends with Scorpio placements, with a lingering, buoyant white froth akin to what us gals experience apres at a ski resort bar. But less annoying and more delicious in this case 😜 💛✌️
Tremor is the new Cold Snack in my house.
Is there a more perfect Valentine’s Day beer? No. No, there’s not. Paired with @restauranttrokay Asian menu?? Don’t even talk to me. (I love Monday me for ordering this for tonight 💁‍♀️)
I started homebrewing 5 years ago to experiment with flavors in beer. That first batch, I wanted to make a Grapefruit Sculpin clone. It didn’t turn out so good 😆. But I keep homebrewing for the same reason. This last batch is a robust (somewhere between regular and imperial) stout made with cinnamon sticks and vanilla beans. Sure, I could go to my local beer shop and grab a coupla dessert stout hypecans to get a better version of my “horchata stout,” but being able to sit with a beer for weeks at a time (maybe months in this case) by brewing, fermenting, and kegging it, offers a more profound experience for the drinker. I feel connected to the beer I brew. Just like any creator feels connected to their creation. And I, for one, am always looking for connection. Recently, with my grandmas and great grandmas via the universe (and stories from my mom). I never knew my grandma or great grandma, both named Elva, but apparently the latter used to make sweet tamales for Xmas Eve mass which would make a great food pairing for this beer 😘
So. Dry January may be over (it was always over for me), but hop water lives on. I’m here to give you completely subjective reviews on the 3 brands I know of (my own hop water was okay and ranks about 2.5–lmk if you’d like to invest).
